SCRIP

In our current financial times we are sensitive to the fact that our families may not be able to support school fundraisers as much as they have been able to before. We wanted to remind folks of the ongoing Foundation Scrip program. We thought that it would be helpful to go over the basics of Scrip, and how you can take advantage of this great program.

Scrip is "substitute money". When families purchase scrip, they receive negotiable certificates or cards that can be used like cash to purchase products or services from merchants who have issued them. Scrip can be used to purchase anything from groceries, fuel, clothing, toys, and cosmetics to entertainment, electronics, home improvement, or household services. Offering freedom of choice and versatility, scrip is also a great gift idea for anyone and any occasion.

Nevertheless, what makes scrip a valuable and effective tool for Skyline is that as families use it to buy their favorite products and services, they generate funds for the Skyline Foundation. Look for your Scrip order form attached to the Eagle’s Nest each month. You can also access the most recent form by Clicking on the link below and looking under "Current Order Forms"   Our goal is to get as much out of the dollars we all spend each month.

Our annual auction is just around the corner.  We hope that you will be able to attend the auction on March 6th. Attached is the Auction Donation Form.  Your donations are greatly appreciated. It takes a great deal of time and effort to put this event on, and it keeps getting better every year. We hope to see you there.

Skyline’s Garden and Habitat Restoration Project becomes a reality:

Last fall, landscape designers, Patty Hune Florio, Terrie Stubbs, and Carole Senna, created the pictured concept plan for the front of the school that would enhance it’s ecological and educational function.  The recently installed path and other changes that you now see happening at the school are examples of the plan becoming reality.  While we have had to make some adjustments to the initial design, such as reducing the timber-and-gravel stairs from three to one poured-concrete set, the intention and feel of the concept design remains intact.  Parents,  Jil Denver (Biesemeyer), Skip Benton, Nora Schreiber, and Melanie Templeman will be working on choosing specific plants for the slopes shown and the mezzanine slope not shown.  This project is being funded from grants from West Multnomah Soil and Water Conservation and Metro and the generous donations of time and materials from neighbors and parents.  Thank you. jinnetpowel@comcast.net  (503 286 2408)

Thank You!!! Community Care Day A HUGE Success!

The grounds around Skyline have never looked better! This was able to happen thanks to the many parents and students who came out on August 29th to spread a huge amount of mulch, weed, prune, rake, and clean up.  The families of Skyline can't be thanked enough for the time and care given to the school.

Community Care Day Collage

Minus mowing and some hillside weeding, the grounds, flower beds, trees, and gardens at Skyline are as nice as they are thanks to parents, staff, and community members.  Volunteer efforts like the one on the 29th help keep our school beautiful.  Thank you for making Skyline a place we can all be proud of! Special thanks to Jinnet Powell and her Husband Pat for their organization and coordination of the event.
